Since getting the 3G iPhone the date listed for the backup is frequently wrong. I just completed a backup, and it indicates that the backup was taken on 26 June. In case your iPhone is showing incorrect or wrong Date and Time, you will be pleased to know that the problem in most cases is really easy to fix by going into the Settings screen of your iPhone.
Fix iPhone Showing Wrong Date and Time
Assuming that there is nothing wrong with the hardware on your iPhone, the problem of wrong Date and Time on your iPhone could be due to any of the following reasons.
1. You are travelling with your iPhone and have crossed over to another time zone.
2. Due to Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes in the country that you are currently located in.
3. Your iPhone is set to Sync its data to Computer and your PC or Mac is indicating incorrect time.
Whatever may be the reason, in most cases you should be able to fix this problem on your iPhone by using any of the following methods as listed below.
Set Correct Time Zone
Backup Date On Computer
As mentioned above, your iPhone can end up showing wrong date and time when you cross over to a different time zone. This usually happens when your iPhone is unable to sense the change in time Zone due to Location Services being disabled on your device.
1. From the home screen of your iPhone, tap on the Settings.
2. On the settings screen, tap on General.
3. On the Next screen, Tap on Date & Time.
4. On the Date & Time Screen, enable the option to Set Automatically and your iPhone will automatically pick the right Time Zone.
Manually Correct Date and Time On Your iPhone
Sometimes your iPhone may indicate wrong Date and Time, even if you have configured your iPhone to set its Time Zone Automatically. In such a case, you will have to Manually Correct the Date, Time and Time Zone on your iPhone.
1. From the Home screen of your iPhone, tap on Settings.
2. On the Settings Screen, tap on General.
3. On the next screen, tap on Date & Time.
4. On the next screen, Turn off Set Automatically option (See image below).
Once you Turn OFF “Set Automatically” option, you will be able to correct Date, Time and Time Zone manually by tapping on the Date, Time and Time Zone fields.

Enable Location Services For Setting Time Zone
In case you normally prefer disabling Location Services on your iPhone, consider enabling Location Services for Setting Time Zone only while you are travelling with your iPhone. This will allow your iPhone to change its Date and Time Automatically, based on your location.
1. From the Home screen of your iPhone, tap on Settings.

2. On the Settings Screen, scroll down and tap on Privacy.
3. On the Privacy Screen, tap on Location Services.
4. On the next screen, turn ON the option for Location Services by moving the toggle to ON position.
5. While you are still on the Location Services screen, scroll down and tap on System Services.
6. On the System Services screen, make sure that the option for Setting Time Zone is enabled (See image below)
Once you Enable Location Services for Setting Time Zone, your iPhone will be able to switch automatically to the appropriate time zone by sensing your location.
Reset Network Settings
In case you have an iPhone from a Carrier, it is likely that your iPhone has been configured to set its Date and Time using the Carriers Network. On such devices, it is quite possible that your Carrier is unable to push you the correct Date and Time due to incorrect Network Settings on your iPhone.
1. Tap on Settings > General.
2. On the General Screen, tap on the Reset option.
3. On the Reset Screen, tap on Reset Network Settings option.
4. You will see a pop-up, tap on Reset Network Settings.
Note: Resetting Network Settings on your iPhone will Reset all Network settings to Factory Default Settings, including your WiFi password. Make sure that you know the name of your WiFi Network and the WiFi Network Password.
